Retro Game Collection Videos *Amiga Games - 31/7*
Wasn't entirely sure where to post these, so i figured a new thread here was as good a place as any...
I intend to make more like this in due course, since my collection is spread all around the place, and so was impossible to film all in one go.
Still, i hope you find it interesting anyhow.

Re: Retro Game Collection Videos *Part 2 added*
Very cool collection and you've kept in such a nice condition. I was sick when I saw you had boxed, mint condition copies of Sonic 2 and Mario Kart Snes.
Also darn you, you've just reminded me of games I forgot existed, but now I need to play them NOW!! Might have to pay my mum a visit in the next few weeks as most of my old games are still there.

Glad you're enjoying them fella.
Here's my latest update, and sometime in the next day or so, i shall also add a short video of a slightly more unusual item i found whilst having a rummage through my boxes.

DJ no offence, but these videos feel like snuff films.

I didn't even know there were that many DC games out there.masofdas wrote:Hi guys, I'm a big SEGA fan which can see in along with my other collections including the more up to date Wii U.

Fair enough, it was inevitable that not everyone was gonna like these vids (as is the nature of uploading to YouTube), and i knew from the start that they were never gonna be some folks cup of tea.adamguy wrote:DJ no offence, but these videos feel like snuff films.
Generally had more positive feedback than negative so far though, so i can't be doing too bad eh.
Moving on, here's something i found that's a little different, a mint condition Japanese copy of the original Pokemon Green...

Parappa's little face .. aaaaaah the memories.
Cool idea. Maybe incorporate some retro vgm for added retro attraction.

Re: Retro Game Collection Videos *Pokemon Green - 22/6*
The DC had 216 PAL games, but overall I think about 400 odd due to its popularity in Japan.
And of course it still gets the odd game now & then.

That's a neat idea, i might well do that if i make any more retro themed vids in future.Bix wrote:Cool idea. Maybe incorporate some retro vgm for added retro attraction.
Here's the final part of my current series anyhow, and this one includes a couple of classic handhelds, along with some legendary (and in some cases, rare) Gamecube/PS2 titles...

That's the whole point isnt it ? its showing his collection and bringing back memories of past games, its also nice to see how things have changed especially with some of the older games box art and how they were marketed etcadamguy wrote:DJ no offence, but these videos feel like snuff films.

The close camera angle, lack of any music or dialogue and the muffled breathing just make for an intensely uncomfortable video. It's the same atmosphere as a snuff film, which I'm not sure you know the definition for.RichardUK wrote:That's the whole point isnt it ? its showing his collection and bringing back memories of past games, its also nice to see how things have changed especially with some of the older games box art and how they were marketed etcadamguy wrote:DJ no offence, but these videos feel like snuff films.

Unless D.J's particularly ashamed of his collection, I really doubt it.RichardUK wrote:That's the whole point isnt it ?adamguy wrote:DJ no offence, but these videos feel like snuff films.

Found this today in one of my boxes...
I was surprised to find that it was still in good condition, oh and also, i was able to add some background music this time too.

It wasn't just Mario Bros either, Donkey Kong on the ZX Spectrum (which sadly, i do not have anymore) was the first game i ever saw being played on a colour TV (my brother in the 80's only had an old black and white set for his Sinclair).RichardUK wrote:i didn't even know any Nintendo games ever got released on non Nintendo consoles !

I think the more worrying thing here is how many snuff films have you seen?adamguy wrote:The close camera angle, lack of any music or dialogue and the muffled breathing just make for an intensely uncomfortable video. Also loved that Spectrum Mario video .. my friend had a Spectrum but alas I never went down that route. Its hard to believe Nintendo did anything for anyone else. Yours is in pristine condition too.

It is cool to see the stuff but I think some audio would help, like maybe if you said something about why you have the games, what they mean to you or where you got them from or something.

For those who don't know, Youtube has a TON of freeeee resources such as music for you to use in your videos for freeeee so there is no risk of claims against your account
. The credits theme in my videos is one from Youtube, then my intro theme is from another site that lets you use it for free as long as you give them credit. Music can really add a lot to videos when there is no talking or anything.

Yeah, i agree, that's why i added music to the ZX Spectrum video, and will continue to do so if i make any more.kerr9000 wrote:It is cool to see the stuff but I think some audio would help

Re: Retro Game Collection Videos *Mario Bros 5/7*
What the heck Mario on a non-Nintendo platform - what is that about? Is it some rare, unofficial bootleg thing, or is it a proper Nintendo licenced game? I wasn't aware Nintendo ever released games on other platforms. Also games used to be on cassette type things?....so many questions
Also as others have said the addition of the Mario Bros background music really does add a lot, so good job there too

Re: Retro Game Collection Videos *Mario Bros 5/7*
I can confirm that it was an official licensed release (published by the late, great Ocean Software).
But anyways, yeah, my first gaming experiences were all via cassette tapes, as back then, most folk tended to have an 8 bit computer such as the ZX Spectrum, C64, or Amstrad (as opposed to a console like the NES), and they all used tapes (in the shop, you'd identify which computer the game was for thanks to a colour code on the packet, from what i recall, Spectrum was always yellow).

Donkey kong was also on the Coleco cart based console this was what led to the famous Universal City Studios, Inc. v. Nintendo Co., Ltd. Court case in which Universal Studios alleged that Nintendo's video game Donkey Kong was a trademark infringement of King Kong, the plot and characters of which they claimed to own.
It was also ported to the Atari 2600 and Intellivision.
