I actually really like the temple of the ocean king, it really sold the game for me. It was always tense, that time limit scared the eton mess out of me, being put under pressure like that and having to solve puzzles was great. It combined puzzles with stealth and then threw a time limit on the top as well, I really thought it worked well.

The real problem with Phantom Hourglass is how the boat brings no concerns in combat. Like, if you find yourself triggering some enemies you can't handle, just try and go wide around their zone. That and the warp frogs further trivialise the travel

1. Wind Waker

I mean, I've only played the HD version, but it's by far my favorite. The graphics of the original were a big risk, and the graphics in HD are just stunning.

2. Skyward Sword

Fight me. Go on, I'll not be going quietly on this one.

3. Majora's Mask
4. Twilight Princess
5. Ocarina of Time

Trivialising the travel is a good thing in that it stops it from becoming overly repetitive or intrusive and therefore stops it from limiting the game.

1. Wind Waker HD
-Great art-style, visuals, story and dungeons. Contains my favourite scene in the Zelda series: when Link goes to the sunken Hyrule Castle for the first time. The atmosphere of entering the ruins of the castle, with the soldiers frozen in time (like something out of Pompeii) is amazing.

2. Majora's Mask 3DS
-Ominous atmosphere, this entire game is a memorable, emotional journey. The internet culture has helped make this game even better (Ben drowned, Link is dead etc)

3. Ocarina of Time 3DS
-Great dungeons, the best-paced Zelda game

4. Link's Awakening
-Spent my younger years playing this

5. Oracle of Seasons/Ages
-Also devoured these games when I was younger. The Rod of Seasons is my favourite Zelda item. The link-up between the games was revolutionary for its time.

The travel should be an integral part of the game, if they're going to put it in. Spirit Tracks does it right by having you look for things as you go around so the travel isn't empty, as well as forcing you to find a way around the enemies with your limited track space

Spirit Tracks does it terribly by making the later game an absolute chore to play to the point where I gave up

Making travelling simpler through highly accessible warp points later on in the game is a good thing - feels like you earn it, really, and you have better stuff to do than go the same stretches over and over again.

As much as I hate SS, I don't even mention the fact that I tried to play PH. Truly the worst of the series. I didn't even try ST.

I disagree completely. I think that the worst game in the series by a long, and I mean long, gooseberry fool shot, is without a doubt Zelda II. It's just so dated, plays terribly, and strays from the formula the most, which considering it was the second game was just a disappointment. I can't even compare PH to Zelda II, IMO, PH is on a completely different level to Zelda II, I mean, PH is actually bearable and I can play it. Sure, it's not the best the series has seen, but calling it the worst I find to be a massive overstatement personally, especially when mechanically speaking Zelda II just does not hold up at all, whereas PH is playable, and to the extent that it can actually be quite fun.

As far as the travel in PH goes, I really loved just sailing around without purpose, just going around searching for golden frogs and secret islands. It was super fun. In comparison, I couldn't even finish Spirit Tracks, the train travel being limited to tracks took a lot away from me.

Regardless, the main reason I love PH so much is because the temple of the ocean king was rad as gooseberry fool and I loved going back to it. It's probably one of the tensest areas I've ever been to in gaming, I can't really think of any other games that always have me on the edge of my seat, aside from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and that section with the prefects. There's just something about stealth done in that way that really puts me on edge, and it's gooseberry fool great honestly.

No, Zelda II is good in a Castlevania retro platformer way. PH is just broken.

Just seen this and we've been thinking of doing similar on GNamer but letting any Zelda universe game in but we were thinking Top 10 not just 5.

Anyway my 5 are

Number 1 Wind Waker
2 Ocarina of Time
3 Twilight Princess
4 Skyward Sword
5 Four Swords Adventure

Well the final list will be a Top 10, but the voting (I thought) would be better to limit it to 5, simply to not make the voting overwhelming. Heck, I've not really got 10 favourite Zelda games.

Speaking of which, here's my top 5, for what it's worth;
1) Wind Waker
2) Ocarina of Time
3) A Link Between Worlds
4) Minish Cap
5) Twilight Princess

Obviously I'm not that vain to include my own comments in the video, so I won't bother commenting on them here, however, I do implore people to do so on their own choices. Voting will still end this Saturday at midnight, but you may still add your comments to your choices over the weekend. In fact, I implore that you do so, because I want the video to have as many different quotes from different members to use as possible, even if they're just short sentences - if anything I prefer the shorter entries. So I will PM people tomorrow who have voted, but are yet to add their own words, if they still feel inclined to do so (most notably, I haven't got any quotes from anyone who voted A Link to the Past).

I'm hoping to have the video up by next weekend, but will probably get pushed to the following week - depending on how easy I get time to record the audio entries from everyone's quotes. So hope you're looking forward to it!

I do plan on adding a few notes for each of my choices, definitely before the end of the weekend, in fact I'll try and get them done tonight.

Done.

1) A Link to the Past
2) Ocarina of Time
3) Skyward Sword
4) Wind Waker HD (HD and the original should be considered together as one and the same imo)
5) Twilight Princess

I really want to get hold of A Link Between Worlds as I'm sure I would love it.

Yeah, don't worry, all remakes, remasters and re-releases will be counted as the same entry.

Edit: dammit, Scott.

Yes, you really should. Especially seeing how much you appear to love ALttP.
